Most people hold their religious belief as the ticket for the ride to the destination of peace and happiness. Tibetan people go to temples to get blessed not only for their own sake but for the goodness of all the living creatures in the world, namely, to help them shun away suffering which originates from “self” ,and welcome happiness which derives from offering a helpful hand to others. Probably it is for this reason that the people in Tibet can celebrate their Spring Festival with so much joy and happiness.
The film director went to Tibet for the first time in 1993 when he was a college student. Then he couldn’t stop going there ever year. He shot the film in the year of 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively during the spring festival in Tibet .He himself did almost all the shootings: the close-ups, the medium shots, the long shots, and the editing as well. Fortunately the scenes have not suffered the lack of consistency: the Buddhist monks’ ritual for the festival with the same fixed practice, and the Tibetans’ worship for Buddha with the same pious devotion. The editing of different shots seem to be flowing and no one can imagine that they were not shot in the same year.
“It takes much courage to go to Tibet for the first time, but then it takes more not to go.” This is the most suitable note to the director. What has been attracting him? Perhaps the natural food, the clear sky or the pure souls. Or perhaps he had been living there even before his reincarnation into this world.
